I just want to share a food pantry I came across yesterday in assisting a client and it’s open to anyone. Regardless of income.
You pay them $30 and tell them whether or not you want beef, pork, and/or chicken. They go and fill like three big boxes full of food that is a great bargain. There’s frozen chicken, pork chops, and I guess if you choose beef there would be probably roasts or something. Lots of eggs: Brown and Egglands Best. 1% milk, several cartons. You select fruit and vegetables. There’s bread and dairy products, pastries, cakes etc. Some of the items appear to have short expiration dates probably due to grocery stores needing to get them off of their shelves I believe.
But it is a tremendous bargain. It’s like 140-200 pounds of groceries. It says it’s enough to feed a family of 7 for a week. But if your family is much smaller, then it would go much longer. They are open Monday – Saturday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. They also sell a few items there, I believe some of them may be used.
The address is Community Distribution Center 11350 Saticoy St, Sun Valley, CA 91352. The number seems like it’s not a good one, but for what it’s worth it’s 818-759-0616.
If you know of anyone who would use this info, please share it with them. Before going grocery shopping, hit this place up and then minimize the amount that needs to come out of pocket.
Suggestion: If you want to assist someone with just a small investment, for $30 you can help a struggling family to eat and get a tax write off for your generosity.
